I am all for technology when it comes to education, but what can schools in poor counties such as the Blackbelt due to improve technology in the classroom?
I think the first step would be to get all stakeholders, that is administrators, teachers, and parent, educated on what is available and why it is valuable to our students.
Assistive Technology will work wonders for students at school and home. Do society want change in the classrooms? Some do and some don't, because few believe that change is bad. There are so many senior citizen teachers currently in the classroom that want everything to remain the same, "business as usual." I love using various technology because it allows me to expand and/or upgrade my knowledge.
